Is it me, or are these bugs starting to get tired? They don't seem as angry as they were on the first day of all this.

[As if to prove his point, Hiro's Larvitar - which was having trouble taking out the things en masse a few days prior - now attacks a pair at once and takes them out no problem.]

They're still mad, but I think it's getting close to an end. I've actually been able to try catching a few of them now. Lucky me, this nose thing found me earlier and decided to team up with me. Pretty cool of it actually.

[Hiro shifts the camera to his newest team member, the stray Nosepass that he discovered after its master, Don Paolo, vanished mysteriously from Johto. The Nosepass goes to take out some more bugs, and Hiro turns back to the screen.]

By the way... Anyone else read what the thing says about Paras? Hold on a second--

[After hitting some buttons, during the gd video, some text scrolls over the screen. Thank you being BFFs with a super hacker.]

Paras has parasitic mushrooms growing on its back called tochukaso. They grow large by drawing nutrients from this Bug Pokémon host. They are highly valued as a medicine for extending life. It is doused with mushroom spores when it is born. As its body grows, mushrooms sprout from its back.

Pretty cool, huh? [... and sort of cruel and demented. feel free to call him on that.] Couldn't help myself to a few more of them after reading that.

What flattery. [naoya will be taking that pokéball with a light-hearted chuckle. though he's not going to outright state it, he's pleased. and. grateful. in that way only naoya is.

and then he's going to place the book cover up in the seat beside him, just to answer that last question. it looks like some miscellaneous trainer's book.]

[considering Hiro's still here. It doesn't take a genius to know what the results of something like that would be.]

It was more about your... disappointing choices. [though cousin's behaviour's been raising questions about that.]

[yep, that reaction is kind of strange. and it helps to reinforce Naoya's thought that Something Was Not Right, though what exactly was wrong isn't clear to him just yet...

[Hiro tilts his head slightly, then shrugs.]

I actually don't have a clue, Naoya. Want to just cut to the chase for once?

[a pause, as he puts the last of his books away in the bag in front of him.]

I meant your siding with God.

[that... the SHOCK on Hiro's face is really visible. those were the last words he would ever, EVER expect Naoya, of all people, to say. for a moment, he's just... stunned.

... but then he steps forward, the shock fading immediately, now looking royally pissed, to grab Naoya by the collar and forcibly drag him over.]

Who-- Who are you, and what have you done with my cousin!? The Naoya I know wouldn't even joke about that!

Control yourself, Hiroto.

[oh, so that reaction is good. even if naoya could've done without the whole grabbing thing. naoya's reaching up to hiro's wrist, pulling the hand away from his collar.]

Unfortunately, this isn't a joke.

[Hiro raises that first now, then... lowers it and steps back.]

I'd rather die. You should know what I chose-- There wasn't a choice to begin with.

I don't disagree. Of course, I'm the one that presented that choice to you.

[naoya will just be straightening out his clothes now. so his suspicions were slightly right... even if the cause for those reasons is still murky.]

... Then explain why you don't remember what I chose.

[except that circular reasoning gets nothing done. naoya goes to take his original seat back on the couch.]

... But, I can make some guesses. None are definite.

[... well, that's Hiro's response to that. in other words, if you're remembering wrong, it's wrong. or something to the effect.]

If you really don't remember... I chose to fight God. Why would I-- [he shakes his head, looking a little angry again.] Why would anyone doom humanity like that by choosing to go that way?

I have no complaints.

[because, obviously, this is the favourable outcome. naoya's just stoic as always, save for the small smile on his face. because hey this is how it should be. :I]

Hah... and it's good that you won't submit to another's tyrannical whims. [a pause.] It seems this talk wasn't as necessary as I thought. [or one aspect of it, anyway.]

Not yours, either. [a pause.] Not that they're that tyrannical or anything, but...

[Hiro gets that Naoya... probably doesn't even remember the "you are my pawn and I am your pawn" talk they had, but he does hope Naoya gets the point that he did this of his own free will.]

Good.

[pffft that makes him chuckle.] The outcome is the same in the end, so that's no foil of mine.

[as for the last part of the conversation, he'll just nod. naoya really has no desire to drag out talking about Bad Decisions, especially since there's 'closure' on that... though he'll still be cautious.]

That's pretty much what you said last time. Good to hear you're still you.

[Hiro will finally offer a grin.] Looks like we're back on track then. All we need to do is go back so I can summon the server and finish it off.

It's merely the truth of the situation.

[naoya will just quietly take in the last of hiro's words.] Of course... That's just the beginning of the larger struggle.

I know. The sooner we get back, the sooner we can start it and end God.
